I just finished reading From Global Delay to Literary Award and was very impressed by the story. I am a retired SLP and there are still a few children I worked with who stand out as puzzles that I wish, for their sakes we could have clarified. There are also children like, Peter that grew up to do things no one would have predicted when they were 2. Every little bit we learn is helpful though and that's really why I'm writing. You seem to have a feel for diagnostics and what I'm hoping is that you are teaching what you have learned over the years to other people. Being able to clearly delineate a child's strengths, weaknesses and needs is so important to appropriate treatment and if you get caught in looking at things in only one way, I think you can miss the potential that does exist.
So, thank you for all the work you do and the way in which you do it. The Peters of this world need people like you.
Sincerely,
Nancy Hawfield, MA, CCC-SLP
